Literature Services - Internships: Frequently Asked QuestionsDo I have to be enrolled at a post-secondary educational institution to be eligible for an traineeship?Yes. Do I have to be enrolled as a full-time student? No. Part-time students are eligible too. I am studying for Bachelor/Masters/Doctoral degree. Am I eligible? Yes. I am enrolled at a vocational college/school that does not confer an academic degree. Am I elgible? Students at all post-secondary institutions are eligible irrespective of their degree course. There is a wide variety of post-secondary institutions in Europe so we cannot enumerate them but will give carefull consideration to all qualified applicants. Can I apply for both remote and on-site traineeship? Basically yes. However, we prefer that you decide for one of the options (please read the answer to the next question). Can I change from remote to on-site traineeship and vice versa? Remote traineeship is possible only if a professor/lecturer confirms that it will be treated as part of your curriculum (e.g. thesis/semester project). Such theses/projects can be undertaken both on-site and remotely and in such case we are open to flexible arrangements. If your work will not be considered part of your studies, than you have to apply for an on-site traineeship. Can the traineeship be extended? Yes, but only if it makes sense. Can I attend lectures at the University of Cambridge while at EBI? The students from our doctoral program are usually enrolled as full-time students at the University and are treated as such. The students visiting us from other institutions as a rule are not members of the university. However, arrangements have been made in the past and generally getting a permission for an EBI trainee to attend a course at the university has not been a problem (limitations apply). I want to ask question that is not listed. Whom should I contact? Please feel free to send us your inquiry at textman@ebi.ac.uk. Please use as a title "Traineeship Winter07/Spring08 - Question". ![]() |
