IPD - MHC DatabaseNon-Human Primate (NHP) NomenclatureWelcome to the NHP database, a specialist database for the Major Histocompatibility Complex genes of Non-Human Primates. The database includes Apes and both Old World and New World monkeys. It presently covers over 30 different primate species, and is subject to quality control. Incorporated in the database are currently known and annotated (full length) MHC class I sequences, MHC class II exon 2 sequences, and particular full length MHC class II rhesus macaque DRA and DRB sequences. The sequences have been published by various authors. Deduced protein alignments of all sequences are available. The NHP project was previously known as the IMGT/NHP Database as during the starting up state was sponsored in part by the ImMunoGeneTics information system (IMGT). Getting StartedFrom the left-hand menu bar choose "Alignment". In the box that appears you can select the species and locus, and you can choose for instance between nucleotide or amino acid alignment. If you need help press the "Help" button at the end of the particular box. After you select everything you want, press the "Align sequence now" button. To do other alignments choose the "More alignments" button on the top of the alignment page, and the alignment tool will appear automatically. For additional information on the sequences, choose "Nomenclature" in the left-hand menu bar. Finally, a table will appear with specific data on the species and locus you have chosen. The accession numbers and references in the section are linked to the original database and PubMed, respectively.
