Description

Adropin is a peptide hormone that plays an important role in the regulation of lipid and glucose homeostasis [PMID: 19041763, PMID: 23620340]. It is involved in carbohydrate-lipid metabolism, metabolic diseases, central nervous system function, endothelial function and cardiovascular disease [PMID: 27668650]. Some potential therapeutic benefits derived from adropin include enhancing glucose tolerance [PMID: 25830094], ameliorating insulin resistance and lipid metabolism [PMID: 27114793], and protecting against endothelial barrier dysfunction [PMID: 27020249].
