A-kinase-interacting protein 1 (IPR033214)

Short name: AKIP1

Family relationships

AKIP1 regulates the effect of the cAMP-dependent protein kinase (PKAc) signalling pathway on the NF-kB activation cascade [PMID: 18178962, PMID: 20562110]. AKIP1 binds PKA [PMID: 15630084] and co-localises with the NF-kB subunit p65 [PMID: 18178962]. In humans, there are three splice variants, whereas only the full-length protein is present in rodents [PMID: 14682057]. AKIP1 seems to act as a modulator of PKA in NF-kappaB signalling; different splice variants have been shown to repress [PMID: 16998474] or enhance NF-kB transcription [PMID: 18178962].
