Retinal homeobox protein Rx (IPR032967)

Short name: Rx

Family relationships

RX is a homeodomain-containing protein essential for proper eye development [PMID: 10625658] and for retinal regeneration [PMID: 21334323]. It binds to the photoreceptor conserved element-1 (PCE-1/Ret 1) in the photoreceptor cell-specific arrestin promoter and stimulates gene expression [PMID: 10625658]. Interestingly, transduction of a combination of CRX, RX and NEUROD induces all of the opsin genes: blue opsin, green/red opsin and rhodopsin [PMID: 22558175].
