  • BAR domain (IPR004148)
    • Endophilin-A3, BAR domain (IPR032469)

BAR domains are dimerization, lipid binding and curvature sensing modules found in many different proteins with diverse functions. This entry represents the Bar domain found in endophilin-A3.

Endophilin is a family of the BAR and SH3 (Src homology 3) domain-containing protein. In mammals the endophilins comprise endophilins A1, 2, 3 and endophilins B [PMID: 15363893]. Endophilin-A1/2/3 are implicated in endocytosis. Endophilin-A3 forms filamentous structures that co-localise with microtubules but not with actin filaments [PMID: 15363893, PMID: 15066995].
