Flotillin, C-terminal domain (IPR031905)

Short name: Flotillin_C

Domain relationships

Flotillin is a family of lipid-membrane-associated proteins found in bacteria, archaea and eukaryotes. Flotillins in vertebrates are associated with sphingolipids and cholesterol-enriched membrane microdomains, known as lipid-rafts [PMID: 22329548]. These rafts, along with other membrane components, are important in cell-signalling. Flotillins in other organisms have roles in viral pathogenesis, endocytosis, and membrane shaping [PMID: 20018678, PMID: 22215737, PMID: 22882210].

This entry represents the C-terminal domain of flotilin-1 and flotilin-2.
