Description

Myelin protein P2 is a constituent of peripheral nervous system (PNS) myelin [PMID: 4697881], also present in small amounts in central nervous system (CNS) myelin [PMID: 6785343]. As a structural protein, P2 is thought to stabilise the myelin membranes [PMID: 20421974]. Structurally, P2 belongs to the family of cytoplasmic fatty acid binding proteins (FABPs) [PMID: 16424607, PMID: 21425316].
