Family

Proline-, glutamic acid- and leucine-rich protein 1 (IPR031193)

Short name: PELP1

Family relationships

None.

Description

Proline-, glutamic acid- and leucine-rich protein 1 (PELP1) is an estrogen receptor (ER)-interacting protein that has been implicated to be important for mediation of both the genomic and nongenomic signalling of 17beta-estradiol (E2) [PMID: 18571832, PMID: 11481323]. It acts as a scaffold molecule and mediates rapid signalling from growth factor and hormone receptors [PMID: 23933151]. PELP1 is also involved in chromatin remodelling activity via displacement of histone 1 [PMID: 15374949]. PELP1 is found overexpressed in breast tumours and ovarian cancers [PMID: 19495959].
