Short name: Glypican-4

Family relationships

  • Glypican (IPR001863)
    • Glypican-4 (IPR031180)

Glypicans are heparan sulphate proteoglycans (HSPGs) attached to the cell membrane by a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchor that interact with various extracellular growth factors and receptors. Six members (GPC1-6) are known in vertebrates [PMID: 11474185].

Glypican 4 promotes cardiac specification and differentiation by attenuating canonical Wnt and Bmp signalling [PMID: 25968312].
