Short name: SIZ1_plant

Family relationships

SIZ1 is a plant small ubiquitin-like modifier (SUMO) E3 ligase that regulates plant growth and responses to multiple environmental stimuli, such as phosphate starvation or low temperature [PMID: 19837819, PMID: 21156857, PMID: 23056518]. It is also required for salicylic acid and PAD4-mediated R gene signalling, which in turn confers innate immunity in Arabidopsis [PMID: 17163880]. It promotes FLC expression by repressing FLD activity through sumoylation [PMID: 18069938] and positively controls nitrogen assimilation by promoting sumoylation of nitrate reductases in Arabidopsis [PMID: 21772271].
