TPPP1 (also known as TPPP/p25) belongs to the TPPP (tubulin polymerisation promoting protein) family [PMID: 23166627]. TPPP/p25 binds to tubulins and cause microtubules (MT) bundling both in vitro and in vivo [PMID: 17105200]. It promotes tubulin acetylation by inhibiting histone deacetylase 6 [PMID: 20308065]. Its ability of assemble MTs can be inhibited by LIM kinase [PMID: 18028908]. Rho-associated coiled-coil kinase (Rock) and Cdk phosphorylation of TPPP/p25 inhibits its regulation of the cell cycle to increase cell proliferation [PMID: 23355470].
