Serotransferrin, also known as siderophilin, is a bilobal protein that transports iron from sites of storage to regions of iron metabolism [PMID: 9609685]. It binds ferric ions in the bloodstream and transports this bound iron to cells where it is released by a process of receptor-mediated endocytosis [PMID: 9760232].
