Family

Fatty acid transport protein 2 (IPR030305)

Short name: FATP2

Family relationships

None.

Description

Fatty acid transport protein 2 (FATP2; also known as very long-chain acyl-CoA synthetase 1, ACSVL1) belongs to the FATP family, whose members facilitate long- and very long-chain fatty acid uptake [PMID: 23271751, PMID: 15469937]. FATP2 functions in fatty acid transport and fatty acid activation [PMID: 24113382]. It is probably involved in bile acid metabolism. It has the acyl-CoA synthetase activity specifically for very long chain fatty acids [PMID: 24113382, PMID: 21768100].
