Concentrative nucleoside transporter CNT1/CNT2 (IPR030212)

Short name: CNT1/CNT2

Family relationships

This entry represents the concentrative nucleoside transporters CNT1 and CNT2 from vertebrates, also known as solute carrier family 28 member 1 (SLC28A1) and 2 (SLC28A2), respectively [PMID: 12856181, PMID: 18668436]. They are sodium/nucleoside cotransporters. Human CNT1 transports pyrimidine nucleosides. Although CNT1 is pyrimidine selective, it also transports adenosine in a high-affinity, low-capacity manner [PMID: 11032837]. CNT2 is selective for purine nucleosides [PMID: 10455109, PMID: 9890994].
