Family relationships

Actin filament-associated protein 1-like 1 (AFAP1L1) belongs to the actin-filament associated protein (AFAP) family of adaptor proteins (including AFAP1, AFAP1L1, and AFAP1L2/XB130). It may be involved in podosome and invadosome formation [PMID: 21333378]. It interacts with vinculin, modulates cellular morphology and motility, and promotes the progression of colorectal cancers [PMID: 24723436]. It serves as a metastasis-predicting marker in cancer cells [PMID: 23326307].
