Short name: MAGI1

Family relationships

None.

Description

Membrane-associated guanylate kinase, WW and PDZ domain-containing protein 1 (MAGI1) is a tight junction protein that recruits various kinds of molecules via its PDZ domains to strengthen the junctional complex [PMID: 24982328]. It serves as a tumour suppressor [PMID: 21666716, PMID: 21685691]. It is one of the binding partners for the oncoprotein E6 of the HPVs (high-risk type human papillomaviruses) [PMID: 24293186], the NS1 protein of the avian influenza A virus [PMID: 22911767] and the Tax protein of the T-cell leukemia virus type 1 [PMID: 23279616].
