Family

Neuroligin-3 (IPR030024)

Short name: NLGN3

Family relationships

Description

Neuroligin-3 (NLGN3) belongs to the neuroligins (NLGNs) family, whose members interact with the neurexin family members and are involved in the modulation of synaptic transmission [PMID: 24860089]. NLGN3 is a neuronal adhesion protein at both inhibitory GABAergic synapses and excitatory (glutamatergic) synapses [PMID: 17897391]. Mutations in neuroligin 3 genes have been found in autism [PMID: 25149987].
