Neuroligin-1 (IPR030022)

Short name: NLGN1

Family relationships

Description

Neuroligin-1 (NLGN1) belongs to the neuroligins (NLGNs) family, whose members interact with the neurexin family members and are involved in the modulation of synaptic transmission. NLGN1 is a cell adhesion protein that is essential for the formation and consolidation of synaptic connectivity and is involved in vascular development [PMID: 24860089]. It is localised on excitatory (glutamatergic) synapses [PMID: 9927700]. It has been linked to memory formation [PMID: 25149987] and autism [PMID: 20147539].
