Dystonin (IPR029926)

Short name: Dystonin

Family relationships

Dystonin is a cytoskeletal protein that belongs to the plakin family, whose members are linker proteins that act as integrators of cytoskeleton networks [PMID: 10428034]. In humans Dystonin has several isoforms. One of the isoform, bullous pemphigoid antigen 1 (BPAG1-e, also known as BP230), is required for efficient regulation of keratinocyte polarity [PMID: 19403692]. BPAG1 is one of two autoantigens identified in patients with Bullous pemphigoid disease [PMID: 17499243].
