Family relationships

Neurabin-2 (NEB2 also known as spinophilin) is a multi-domain multifunctional scaffold protein that takes part in several protein interactions. It binds to many proteins with different functions, including protein phosphatase 1 and F-actin [PMID: 21598252]. Neurabin-2/spinophilin probably regulates both membrane and cytoskeletal functions [PMID: 16737766]. It plays important functions in the nervous system where it modulates excitatory synaptic transmission and dendritic spine morphology [PMID: 10922077]. It may be a tumour suppressor [PMID: 24565202].
