  • Actin family (IPR004000)
    • Actin-related protein 1 family (IPR029909)

The members of the actin-related protein 1 (Arp1) family include yeast Arp1 and its mammalian homologue, centractin. They serve as a component of the dynactin complex involved in microtubule based vesicle motility [PMID: 8069915, PMID: 16415535, PMID: 9522459]. They can also form an actin-like filament at the base of the complex [PMID: 9522459]. They serve as a structural scaffold protein for other dynactin subunits and may link dynactin, and thereby dynein, with membranous cargo via interaction with spectrin [PMID: 11129047].
