Description

Charged multivesicular body protein 1a (CHMP1A, also known as chromatin-modifying protein 1A) is part of the ESCRT-III complex, which is required for endosome-mediated trafficking via multivesicular body (MVB) formation and sorting [PMID: 18787405]. Besides being part of the ESCRT-III complex, it is also identified as a nuclear matrix protein affecting chromatin structure and cell-cycle progression [PMID: 11559747]. In humans it acts as a tumour suppressor [PMID: 18787405, PMID: 21705858].
