Sodium channel subunit beta-2 (IPR029873)

Short name: SCN2B

Overlapping homologous superfamilies

Family relationships

Sodium channels consist of a pore-forming alpha subunit and at least one beta subunit. Sodium channel subunit beta-2 (SCN2B) belongs to the beta subunit family and is also a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily of cell adhesion. It interacts with NrCAM, Nf186, contactin, and Nf155. It may be invovled in heterophilic cell-adhesive interactions with cell adhesion molecules found in the axo-glial complex [PMID: 11779698, PMID: 15466474].
