Family

EGF-like repeat and discoidin I-like domain-containing protein 3 (IPR029828)

Short name: EDIL-3

Family relationships

None.

Description

EGF-like repeat and discoidin I-like domain-containing protein 3 (EDIL3), also known as developmental endothelial cell locus-1 (Del-1), is a glycoprotein secreted by endothelial cells. Del-1 plays a regulatory role in vascular remodeling, and functions in innate immunity through interaction with integrin alphaV-beta3 [PMID: 9420328, PMID: 19008446, PMID: 12840057]. Del-1 contains 3 epidermal growth factor (EGF)-like repeats and 2 discoidin-like domains. An Arg-Gly-Asp (RGD) motif in the second EGF domain (EGF2) is critical for integrin binding [PMID: 22601780]. Del-1 has been linked to the regulation of angiogenesis, apoptosis, cell adhesion and migration, and inflammation [PMID: 24525119].
