Family

cAMP-dependent transcription factor ATF-3 (IPR029812)

Short name: ATF3

Family relationships

Description

ATF3 belongs to the ATF/cAMP-response element-binding protein family. It is a transcriptional activator that binds the cAMP response element (CRE) (consensus: 5'-GTGACGT[AC][AG]-3'), a sequence present in many viral and cellular promoters. It serves as a hub in cellular adaptive-response and plays important roles in cancer and immunity [PMID: 21061913, PMID: 21266251].
