AMP deaminase 2 (AMPD2) belongs to the adenosine and AMP deaminases family, a large, well-conserved eukaryotic protein family that converts AMP to IMP, and therefore plays an important role in purine metabolism. AMPD2 is essential for guanine nucleotide biosynthesis and protein translation, and plays an important part in neurogenesis [PMID: 23911318].
