Family

Oxidative stress-induced growth inhibitor 1 (IPR029724)

Short name: OSGIN1

Family relationships

  • OKL38 family (IPR029731)
    • Oxidative stress-induced growth inhibitor 1 (IPR029724)

Description

Oxidative stress-induced growth inhibitor 1 (also known as OKL38) regulates the differentiation and proliferation of normal cells through the regulation of cell death [PMID: 14570898, PMID: 11459809]. It is a downstream target of p53, and induces apoptosis through localisation to mitochondria and induction of cytochrome c release [PMID: 18499678]. OKL38 regulates mitochondria morphology and functions during apoptosis together with p53 [PMID: 22912861].
