Transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily M member 8 (IPR029603)

Short name: TRPM8

Overlapping homologous superfamilies

Family relationships

The TRPM subfamily of mammalian TRP channels includes TRPM8, which is a cold- and menthol-activated ion channel expressed in peripheral sensory neurons, where it plays a critical role in cold temperature detection [PMID: 24756721]. TRPM8 is also found in the prostate and is up-regulated in prostate cancer and other malignancies [PMID: 11325849].
