Transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily M member 3 (IPR029583)

Short name: TRPM3

Overlapping homologous superfamilies

Family relationships

The TRPM subfamily of mammalian TRP channels includes TRPM3, which is a calcium-permeable nonselective cation channel [PMID: 24006495]. TRPM3 is expressed by a variety of cells, including nociceptive neurons, pancreatic beta cells, and vascular smooth muscle cells [PMID: 24756716]. TRPM3 channels are temperature sensitive and have been implicated in sensing noxious heat [PMID: 24006495, PMID: 24756716]. They may also play a role of TRPM3 in renal Ca2+ homeostasis [PMID: 12672799].
