Serine incorporator 1 (IPR029552)

Short name: SERINC1

Family relationships

Serine incorporator (Serinc) 1-5 constitute a family of carrier proteins that incorporate serine into membranes and facilitates the synthesis of two serine-derived lipids, phosphatidylserine and sphingolipids. Rat Serinc1 co-localises with lipid biosynthetic enzymes in endoplasmic reticulum membranes. Its two functions, serine synthesis and membrane incorporation, are linked to each other [PMID: 16120614].
