Short name: ThuA-like

Domain relationships

The overall fold of this domain is very similar the class I glutamine amidotransferase (GAT) domain, but the putative active site has a different structure. The structure has been solved for ThuA-like protein from Bacillus Stearothermophilus Q5KY38.

Proteins containing this domain includes thuA from Sinorhizobium meliloti and its homologue, known as palA (Q8L120) from Agrobacterium tumefaciens [PMID: 12644509]. Similar to S. meliloti thuA, PalA is an enzyme(s) involved in the conversion of disaccharides to their respective 3-keto derivatives [PMID: 23772075].
