Homologous Superfamily

ADF-H/Gelsolin-like domain superfamily (IPR029006)

Short name: ADF-H/Gelsolin-like_dom_sf

This superfamily represents a domain found in the actin-depolymerising factors (ADF), the villin/gelsolin family members and the C-terminal of the Sec23/Sec24 proteins. It consists the mixed beta-sheet structure.

The ADF-H (actin-depolymerising factor homology) domain is an ~150-amino acid motif that is present in three phylogenetically distinct classes of eukaryotic actin-binding proteins [PMID: 9693358, PMID: 12207032, PMID: 9047337]. This domain share structural similarity with another set of actin binding proteins, villin and gelsolin, and the C-terminal of the Sec23/Sec24 proteins.
