Cyclin I (IPR028856)
Short name: Cyclin_I
Overlapping homologous superfamilies
None.
Family relationships
None.
Description
Cyclins are eukaryotic proteins that play an active role in controlling nuclear cell division cycles, and regulate cyclin dependent kinases (CDKs) [PMID: 12910258].
This entry represents cyclin I, which contains a cyclin box motif and is involved in various biological processes, such as cell survival, angiogenesis, and cell differentiation [PMID: 23907122]. Cyclin I binds to and activates Cdk5, thereby preventing apoptosis in podocytes [PMID: 16847066]. It is involved in the regulation of cell cycle progression and is linked to cancer [PMID: 23907122, PMID: 22772062, PMID: 15754132].
