Family relationships

Catenin delta-1 (p120-catenin) belongs to a multiprotein cell-cell adhesion complex that also contains E-cadherin, alpha-catenin, beta-catenin, and gamma-catenin [PMID: 8806074]. It is best known for its ability to bind and stabilise cadherins, but also controls many aspects of cytoskeletal organisation, cell signaling and transcriptional regulation [PMID: 23950111]. It is also involved in cell proliferation and polarity, tumor cell migration [PMID: 22583808] and inflammation [PMID: 23216611].
