Family relationships

  • Coronin (IPR015505)
    • Coronin 7 (IPR027331)

Coronins belong to the WD40-repeat family, which contains the WD40 motifs that act as the protein-protein interaction sites. There are several isoforms of Coronin in mammalian cells [PMID: 10461187].

This entry represents Coronin 7. Unlike most of the Coronin isoforms, Coronin 7 has not been shown to interact with actin [PMID: 15892111]. Instead, Coronin 7 binds to the outer side of Golgi complex membranes and acts as a mediator of cargo vesicle formation at the trans-Golgi network [PMID: 18925375]. It physically interacts with both the AP-1 adaptor protein complex and the Src kinase [PMID: 18925375].
