Mitochondrial import inner membrane translocase subunit Tim50 (IPR027111)

Short name: Tim50

Overlapping homologous superfamilies

Family relationships

Tim50 is an essential component of the TIM23 complex, a complex that mediates the translocation of transit peptide-containing proteins across the mitochondrial inner membrane [PMID: 15044455, PMID: 12574118]. Tim50 is anchored to the inner mitochondrial membrane with its C-terminal domain exposed in the intermembrane space [PMID: 12437925]. Tim50 is important for both mitochondrial function and early neuronal development in humans [PMID: 15044455].
