RAD51-associated protein 1 (IPR026632)

Short name: RAD51-assoc_prot_1

Overlapping homologous superfamilies

Family relationships

RAD51-associated protein 1 may participate in a common DNA damage response pathway associated with the activation of homologous recombination and double-strand break repair [PMID: 9396801]. It functionally cooperates with PALB2 in promoting of D-loop formation by RAD51 [PMID: 20871616, PMID: 16990250]. It binds to single and double stranded DNA, and is capable of aggregating DNA [PMID: 9396801]. It also binds RNA [PMID: 9396801]. It is phosphorylated upon DNA damage, probably by ATM or ATR [PMID: 17525332, PMID: 18669648, PMID: 19413330].
