Family relationships

This entry represents the PDZK1-interacting protein 1 (PDZK1IP1) family. Members include PDZK1IP1 and proximal tubules-expressed gene protein (also known as PDZK1-interacting protein 1-like and MAP17).

The function of PDZK1IP1 is unknown. However, it has been found diffusely expressed in various carcinomas originating from kidney, colon, lung and breast in humans [PMID: 9461128]. Proximal tubules-expressed gene protein, meanwhile, has been shown to be essential for pronephric tubule development, acting upstream of pax8 and lhx1/lim1 and downstream of retinoic acid signaling to induce pronephric mesoderm to form pronephric tubule-specific cells [PMID: 19909807].
