Description

This enzyme hydrolyses cAMP to 5'-AMP. It plays an important regulatory role in modulating the intracellular concentration of cAMP, thereby influencing cAMP-dependent processes [PMID: 8810311]. In Pseudomonas is specifically required for regulation of virulence factors and can also hydrolyse cGMP [PMID: 20348254]. In Mycobacterium can also hydrolise cGMP and may play a role in pathogenicity, not only by hydrolyzing cAMP, but also by altering properties of the cell wall [PMID: 16313172, PMID: 19801656].
