Family relationships

The paraneoplastic Ma antigens (PNMA) have been identified using sera from patients with paraneoplastic neurological syndromes [PMID: 16214224]. Paraneoplastic antigen-like protein 5 (PNMA5) is a member of this family that consists of 6 genes known as PNMA1, PNMA2, PNMA3, PNMA4 (also called modulator of apoptosis-1, MOA1), PNMA5, and PNMA6. PNMA5 is preferentially expressed in the association areas in the neocortex in primates [PMID: 19366867].
