This entry includes diverse glycosyltransferases with a common GT-A type structural fold, having two tightly associated beta/alpha/beta domains that tend to form a continuous central sheet of at least eight beta-strands. These are enzymes that catalyze the transfer of sugar moieties from activated donor molecules to specific acceptor molecules, forming glycosidic bonds. Other members of the entry include are proposed to be a nucleotide transferase, a phosphoesterase, and a radical SAM enzyme whose C-terminal domain frequently contains a selenocysteine [PMID: 9445404, PMID: 12691742, PMID: 10521532, PMID: 10508766].
