This protein anchors PKA for its role in regulating PKA-mediated gene transcription in both somatic cells and oocytes [PMID: 12804576]. This domain carries the nuclear localisation signal (NLS) KKRKK, that indicates the cellular destiny of this anchor protein [PMID: 16483255].

The domain is also found in a number of other proteins, such as activating signal cointegrator 1 complex subunit 1 and leukocyte receptor cluster member 9.
