Short name: Mt_escape_2

Family relationships

None.

Description

Mitochondrial escape protein 2 (also known as RNA12) plays a role in maintaining the mitochondrial genome and in controlling mtDNA escape [PMID: 8514129, PMID: 8649384]. It is also involved in the regulation of mtDNA nucleotide structure and number [PMID: 16850347]. Additionally, this protein have a dispensable role in the early maturation of pre-rRNA [PMID: 1557037].
