Carbohydrate kinase, FGGY, N-terminal (IPR018484)

Short name: Carb_kinase_FGGY_N

Domain relationships

It has been shown [PMID: 1659648] that four different type of carbohydrate kinases seem to be evolutionary related. These enzymes include L-fucolokinase (EC: (gene fucK); gluconokinase (EC: (gene gntK); glycerol kinase (EC: (gene glpK); xylulokinase (EC: (gene xylB); and L-xylulose kinase (EC: (gene lyxK). These enzymes are proteins of from 480 to 520 amino acid residues.

This entry represents the N-terminal domain of these proteins. It adopts a ribonuclease H-like fold and is structurally related to the C-terminal domain [PMID: 8430315, PMID: 9843423].
