Repressor of RNA polymerase III transcription Maf1 (IPR015257)

Short name: Maf1

Family relationships

Maf1 is a negative regulator of RNA polymerase III [PMID: 11438659, PMID: 16762835]. It inhibits the de novo assembly of TFIIIB onto DNA [PMID: 17785443]. Maf1 represses Pol III in response to DNA damage, oxidative stress, growth to stationary phase, treatment with rapamycin or chlorpromazine, and blocking of the secretory pathway [PMID: 15196897]. It targets the initiation factor TFIIIB [PMID: 12504022]. Its structure has been solved [PMID: 20887893].
