Family

Sporulation stage IV, protein A (IPR014201)

Short name: Spore_IV_A

Family relationships

None.

Description

This entry represents the stage IV sporulation protein A (EC:3.6.1.3) from bacteria. It is an ATPase that has a role at an early stage in the morphogenesis of the spore coat and is required for proper coat localisation to the forespore [PMID: 12662922, PMID: 17114257]. A comparative genome analysis of all sequenced genomes of Firmicutes shows that the proteins are strictly conserved among the sub-set of endospore-forming species.
