This domain is found in a number of proteins, including TPR protein (P12270) and yeast myosin-like protein 1 (MLP1, Q02455). These proteins share a number of features; for example, they have coiled-coil regions and are associated with nuclear pores [PMID: 9024684, PMID: 7798308, PMID: 10085285]. TPR is thought to be a component of nuclear pore complex- attached intranuclear filaments [PMID: 9024684], and is implicated in nuclear protein import [PMID: 7798308]. Moreover, its N-terminal region is involved in the activation of oncogenic kinases, possibly by mediating the dimerisation of kinase domains or by targeting these kinases to the nuclear pore complex [PMID: 7798308]. Mlp1 acts as a docking platform for for heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins that are required for mRNA export [PMID: 12531921].
