Bombolitin (IPR012534)

Short name: Bombolitin

Family relationships

This family consists of the bombolitin peptides that are found in the venom of the bumblebee Megabombus pennsylvanicus (American common bumblebee). Bombolitins are structurally and functionally very similar. They lyse erythrocytes and liposomes, release histamine from rat peritoneal mast cells, and stimulate phospholipase A2 from different sources [PMID: 2578459].
