Family

Beta-N-acetylglucosaminidase (IPR011496)

Short name: Beta-N-acetylglucosaminidase

Family relationships

None.

Description

This family consists of both eukaryotic and prokaryotic hyaluronidases. Human Q9HAR0 is expressed during meningioma [PMID: 9811929]. Clostridium perfringens, P26831, is involved in pathogenesis and is likely to act on connectivity tissue during gas gangrene [PMID: 8177218]. It catalyses the random hydrolysis of 1->4-linkages between N-acetyl-beta-D-glucosamine and D-glucuronate residues in hyaluronate.
